General
Nottingham University Hospital is a large modern teaching hospital. The Nottingham Medical School and Medical Sciences Faculty is integrated on the same site, known as Queen's Medical Centre Campus. The building is adjacent to Nottingham University and is about three miles from the city centre.

Job Description
The Department of Ophthalmology is a busy, 16 Consultant service. The Optometry Unit consists of nineteen staff of different backgrounds, grades and professions. We provide pre-registration optometrists with broad experience in many areas of clinical optometry including refraction, contact lens and low vision clinics. A wide range of equipment is available.

A weekly session is organised for attachment to routine outpatient clinics with medical staff.  Experience in general optometric practice is gained outside the hospital in two community practices.  Specialist ophthalmology clinics and the orthoptic, casualty and operating departments are readily accessible.

All senior clinical staff are experienced tutors and there are currently 6 registered supervisors in the Unit.

There are excellent library facilities in both the Optometry Unit and the Medical School.

Contract
The contract runs from 1st August to 31st July.
